This “best of” winner has come a long way since it’s conception in downtown Mulvane. What began as a tiny little restaurant with a porch attached, has evolved into a destination Italian restaurant with a big footprint. Chef Luciano Mottola established his restaurant in 2005 and since then, Wichitans have been the happy recipients of his Tuscan cuisine. From Chef Mottola’s inventive lobster bruschetta to his famous salads served in a crispy bowl of parmesan cheese, starters at Luciano’s are a must have. Pace yourself though because the pasta course is next up. From the deceptively simple Pasta Carbonara with pancetta, cream, eggs and Parmesan coating perfectly al dente spaghetti to the decadent lasagna layered with a tomato bechamel, beef and cheeses you still need to leave room for the secondi. The meat portion of the menu (or secondi) has you loosening your belt and tucking in to everything from beef to salmon to pork. Not to miss is the local pork sausage, grilled with potatoes and smothered in a velvety Gorgonzola Cream sauce. Decadent and delicious! If you can find space, save room for dessert. Reservations are recommended at this little gem which embodies Tuscan culture.
