When I visit with Dr. Alicia Thompson at her new office in the former Southeast High School, most of the hallways are dark. Boxes and dusty furniture wait outside of classroom doors like recalcitrant students. Plastic sheeting billows lethargically in the drafty corridors, and construction workers march purposefully inside and out of the vast building. It feels a little spooky…and oddly optimistic.
