Cross the Arkansas River on Douglas from downtown Wichita and you’ll enter one of the cities oldest neighborhoods, Delano. In its heyday of the 1870s, Delano was a rough, rowdy cow town located at the end of the Chisholm Trail. Named after President Grant’s secretary of interior Columbus Delano, the town was filled with saloons, brothels and gunfights.
