Stress Less Hype
Can 15 minutes make all the difference in relieving stress? We put two highly recommended products to the test. With self-care trends on the rise, it can be hard to filter the useful from the ridiculous. After hearing recommendations from friends, we had to know if these products were worth the hype. Up first was bentonite clay. This clay is sold in external (powder) and internal (liquid) forms. It is said to help detoxify, cleanse and replenish skin when used as a mask or scrub. If you’ve ever touched pottery clay when it’s too wet, this stuff feels identical--it’s clay after all. We found it easiest to use a craft paintbrush to apply to our faces and other test areas. Commonly used as an anti-inflamatory, benonite clay typically forms over long periods of time from the gradual chemical weathering of rocks, usually silicate-bearing, by low concentrations of carbonic acid and other diluted solvents. It is made from minerals such as iron, sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesium, formed from volcanic ash.
